Since the mid-2000s, MinXray has been expanding the reach of our portable digital imaging equipment worldwide, working in global health through international aid initiatives like the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, The United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the Stop TB Partnership. In the decades that followed, we have provided systems to organizations in over 90 countries, including Nigeria, Ethiopia and the Philippines. As the work continues, we remain determined to forge new partnerships in new countries, which enable us to reach more people with accessible and timely diagnosis.
In June of 2025, we visited Pakistan to explore opportunities for a new country partnership. Hosted by the Dopasi Foundation team, our Director of Global and Government Sales Mike Cairnie participated in a meeting with the Honorable Syed Mustafa Kamal (Federal Minister of Health), joined the Young Parliamentarians Forum for a high-level policy dialogue and worked with the Dopasi Foundation to deliver three lung health screening events in diverse community-based settings. Across all active outreach screening campaigns, our AI-enabled portable X-ray system – IMPACT Wireless – was used. The IMPACT system is engineered for use in environments where larger imaging units are impractical or prohibitively expensive and utilized for a wide range of chest imaging applications including TB, pneumonia, COVID-19, occupational lung disease and non-communicable respiratory conditions. The MinXray IMPACT system is also FDA-cleared for total body imaging, significantly enhancing its utility across various medical disciplines. This makes it not only a tool for disease-specific screening but also a critical asset for increasing healthcare infrastructure and clinical capacity, especially in low-resource and decentralized care settings.
When meeting with the Minister and young parliamentarians, discussions focused on the importance of reaching more people with lung health screening and how to leverage innovation to make diagnostics more accessible for all. Lung health screening for TB is particularly important in Pakistan, considering the country is one of the most affected globally by the disease. Over 686,000 Pakistanis, including 81,000 children, developed TB in 2024. An estimated 47,000 lives were lost to the disease in the same year, many of them due to late diagnosis and lack of access to treatment.
The Honorable Minister was given a hands-on live demonstration of the MinXray IMPACT Wireless ultra-portable digital X-Ray system, showcasing its unique portability, AI integration and potential for point-of-care use in community settings. The delegation discussed strategic opportunities to scale up this technology within national and provincial TB screening programs, highlighting its utility for improving early detection, reducing diagnostic delays and strengthening Pakistan’s community health infrastructure. The Honorable Minister expressed appreciation for the innovation and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting technology-driven public health solutions.
Young legislators discussed ways of utilizing ultra-portable radiography systems like IMPACT in their constituencies and the importance of cross-party political support for health innovation. The session also explored their engagement in the Parliamentary Caucus on TB and Global Health, facilitated by the Dopasi Foundation to drive evidence-based policymaking. After the event, participant Sher Afgan Raisani, who is the Provincial Manager for the Balochistan TB Program, said “the live demo of an AI-powered, ultra-portable X-ray was truly inspiring — showcasing how cutting-edge tools can reach our most underserved communities and transform early diagnosis.”
Cairnie’s recent trip was just the start of our effort to forge a new, meaningful partnership to drive progress toward health for all. We will continue to work with the Dopasi Foundation and partners to expand the reach of our digital medical imaging applications – because where you care, we’re there.
